DCTMA & City of Chester Ribbon-Cutting July 19th

DCTMA & CITY OF CHESTER CELEBRATE NEW BICYCLE PARKING
DURING RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY

MEDIA, PA – The Delaware County Transportation Management Association has awarded its 1st Annual Transportation Enhancement Grant to the City of Chester. The $1000 grant was given to the city’s Planning Department for the installation of five brand new, secure bicycle racks.

Joined by Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland, Planning Department Director Peter Rykard, Chester City Council members, and DCTMA board members, DCTMA held a ribbon-cutting celebration Wed., July 19th in front of Chester City Hall, the site of one of the new bike racks. The other bike rack locations include Chester Transportation Center, the Riverwalk near Talen Energy Stadium, and also the Wharf.

“It is an honor for our city to be a recipient of this grant,” said Mayor Kirkland.  “This will help us (Chester) to be as accommodating as possible to persons who travel throughout the city and also encourage healthy living by way of biking to certain destinations.”

“We are thrilled to have the City of Chester’s continued support of our mission of mitigating congestion and reducing emissions through the use of alternative transportation,” says DCTMA Executive Director Cecile Charlton.

DCTMA’s Transportation Enhancement Grant also includes projects such as safe bus shelters, coordinating a carpool program, or creating accessible crosswalks.
