TransitChek vouchers are used to buy tickets, tokens, or passes on all public transit systems in the Delaware Valley — trains and buses as well as vanpools – purchased with pre-tax earnings. TransitCheks are tax-deductible to businesses, exempt from payroll taxes, and tax-free to employees. TransitChek can be offered in a variety of ways:
- Payable by employees – Employees “buy” vouchers through pre-tax payroll deductions
- Paid in full – Employees receive tax-free vouchers in addition to their salaries and other benefits
- Share the costs – Employers pay a portion; employees pay the balance with pre-tax income
