Feasiblity Study & Implementation Plan for Transit Signal Priority along Rt.3/West Chester Pike

Project Overview:

This project will (1) analyze the feasibility of implementing Transit Signal Priority (TSP) on the SEPTA Route 104 bus, which runs along the PA Route 3 (West Chester Pike) corridor in Delaware County, Pennsylvania; (2) will identify other needed land and access improvements along the corridor; and (3) offer an implementation strategy.   This study will identify what is needed to improve service quality and attract new passengers to this corridor and ultimately produce sufficient documentation to enable us to proceed with application for funding the project implementation.  Jacobs Engineering has been selected as the consultant for this project.

Update July 2010:

The DCTMA hosted the project's first municipal kick off meeting on June 21st at Upper Darby Twp building.  This meeting was to introduce the project to the 5 municipalities along the corridor, and begin to gather information and issues to be included in the project scope.  Representatives from Upper Darby, Haverford, Marple, Newtown & Edgemont townships were in attendence, in addition to Jacob Engineering, SEPTA, DVRPC and Delaware County Planning Department.

The next project meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 22nd at Haverford Township.
