Incident Management

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), in coordination with the PennDOT, Pennsylvania State Police, Delaware County Emergency Management Agency, and the DCTMA, has established an incident management task force that focuses on limited access highways of I-95 and I-476 in Delaware County. The initial meeting of this task force was in April 2008.

The purpose of an incident management task force is to foster communication and cooperation between organizations that are involved in responding to traffic incidents in these complex and congested interchange areas, to identify the incident management needs of those organizations and to address those needs through funding, training or other programs.  The Task Force has been successful in addressing critical needs of the responders because of unselfish sharing of resources and relationship building among the members.

This incident management task force meets quarterly and is composed of municipal police, fire and emergency services, Delaware County Emergency Management Agency, PA State Police, PennDOT Traffic Management Center, PennDOT County Maintenance, PA Department of Environmental Protection, Delaware Port Authority, the towing industry, and other appropriate emergency responders as well as applicable regional agencies.

Interactive Detour Route Mapping  IDRuM

The DVRPC, in partnership with PennDOT District 6, has developed the web-based Interactive Detour Route Mapping (IDRuM) application that organizes all existing PennDOT Emergency Detour Routes within the Southeastern Pennsylvania region into a manageable, easy-to-use interface. DVRPC has worked with PennDOT District 6 to update and reformat the detour route maps for all limited access highways within the region, replacing outdated paper maps with digital PDF maps. IDRuM compiles the PDF detour maps into a simple, “point-and-click” application.
